Saying Goodbye To Get Real

Tomorrow morning, I will do what I’ve done nearly every Saturday for almost five years: I’ll wake up early, get a medium vanilla skim latte at the coffee shop and then drive to myTalk 107.1 to co-host Get Real, a weekly radio show in Minneapolis/St. Paul {and online} devoted to deep conversations about spirituality, authenticity and everything in between. I’m so grateful to the station for giving it a chance and to General Mills for sponsoring us early on, giving us the wings we needed to fly.

But tomorrow, the show comes to an end – at least in this place, in this way. The station decided not to renew Get Real; their focus has changed over the years and we just aren’t a good fit anymore. I’m sad about it, of course. I will miss hanging out with my super-cool co-hosts and dear friends, Colleen & Joan, each week. I will miss the chance to dive deep into topics near and dear to my heart. I will miss interviewing visionaries and deep thinkers I admire and connecting with listeners over soul-deep, spirit-lifting stuff.

AND I also trust it is all meant to be and that even better things are ahead. We feel like lots of women still want this kind of programming – are we right?? If you’ve been a fan in the past {or want to be in the future!}, I encourage you to sign up for our mailing list. Visit our new web page, GoGetReal.com, and submit your email address so you’re one of the first to know when we have new news. We’re exploring our options and are excited about creating something awesome moving forward!
Tune in tomorrow {Saturday} from 9-11am central to celebrate where we’ve been and hear our live interview with one of our all-time fave guests – Dr. Wayne Dyer. I just adore that guy!! It is so amazing he’s willing to wake up early in Hawaii to be part of this step in our journey.
The last time we interviewed him, he shared a story about going into an interview at a radio station where the whole staff had been laid off hours before his arrival. He walked around to every cube and congratulated each person, suggesting that those pink slips were actually invitations to see what more was out there waiting for them. I keep coming back to that insight, viewing this change as a giant door swinging open into some kind of wonderful. Hope to see you all on the other side. :)

    Very sad…
They seem to think people like the "dirt" more.
Not this gal. I've learned so much from the three of you. You've inspired me to start my own little creative business.
I will miss my Saturday mornings with you.
Love and Peace to you all…Mari

I am stunned. Your show has always been such a great way to start my Saturday, while I am puttering around the kitchen or up early working in my office. It's your content and authenticity that has kept me around for 5 (?!) years. I don't want more dirt, either, so may be saying good bye to the station as well. I know I will see you around town, though. Looking forward to what comes next for all 3 of you!! xo, Kara

I will stick with your optimistic outlook about something better coming your way. However, I will miss the show so much! I agree with the other commenter that I am listening less and less as the station changes its emphasis, and I intend to let them know that.

I am so sad that you guys are leaving! You are the best show the station has ever had, and I have been listening since the beginning. I will miss you greatly and will follow you to your new station, as I am certain there will be one!

No no no no no no!!!! Is that whining?? Yep — Liv, I am sure this sounds hero-worshippy and gushy, but I actually credit you with helping me start my journey on 'letting the real me shine through' and the Get Real show, Coleen and Joan and that amazing show last fall that you all did on your Sparkle — you talked about Joan's book, SARK was on, and I called in to share my sparkle, and not only did we all sparkle, I think I"m still lit up! The show will be missed — but the three of you will undoubtedly land feet firmly planted in the wholehearted land you are meant to be in! Toodles!! Jennifer Maroney

Just what we need … more dirt. (UGH!)

I will certainly miss you guys, you had a wonderfully positive creative show. Maybe you should see if Oprah would consider you?

I will miss hearing you on Saturday mornings…but look forward to your new endeavors! Your show is what got me listening to the station in the first place. Really loved the message that you, Joan and Colleen were getting out there. I always felt a bit more centered after listening. Thank you for a great show with wonderful content.
