For Me, From Me: The Special Delivery That Made Me Cry {05.17.11}

I actually got a little teary-eyed when I opened the UPS package sitting on my front step yesterday. I pulled this gorgeous angel-fairy-goddess girl out of her signed Kelly Rae Roberts box and memories of this past year came flooding in. It’s hard to believe that I signed up for Kelly Rae’s Flying Lessons e-course a year ago this week. Only a year!? In many ways, it feels like I’ve packed a lifetime of meaningful moments and major events into the past 365 days or so.

Do you ever take time to celebrate your achievements, to honor the lessons you’ve learned? This little gift gave me reason to pause and reflect. Last May, I signed up for Kelly Rae’s e-course with a longing for something more. I had been running my own creative biz since 2007 – blogging, broadcasting, writing and having fun with photography. But my heart was aflutter with the possibility of turning my art into more than a private pastime…and the hope for deeper connections with fellow artists-in-bloom.

Kelly Rae’s course – and a phenomenal community of creative spirits I met through it – reminded me to really lean into and live up to my favorite word – believe – as I prepared to take a flying leap into a new dream. I opened my Etsy shop in late August and have been so touched by the response, having just surpassed over 300 sales there {thank you!!!}. I started displaying my wares at art shows and experiencing the huge learning curve that goes along with those. I began speaking more frequently to women’s groups and conferences about living with passion & purpose {work I totally adore doing!}.

And now, my latest venture is off the ground with registration in full swing for my first e-course: How To Build A Blog You Truly Love. Another flying leap that feels so good! And it blows my mind a bit knowing that Kelly Rae is one of the featured interviewees – part of my dream team of superstar bloggers who will share their  insights with participants. Just…wow.

So much goodness and I’m so, so grateful. It’s all the more meaningful to have these creative highs during a year when I’ve also walked through some deep valleys – like this one and this one and this one, too.  So, that’s why I gave myself this little winged wonder as a gift. She’ll remind me where I’ve been and, as Eleanor Roosevelt would have said, to continue to believe in the beauty of my dreams.

I’d love to hear what you’re celebrating in your life today!
