Beauty To-Go ~ 03.02.11

Do you ever feel like you’re on the go so much you forget where you’re going? That’s me these days. In fact, I drove right through a red light yesterday {and no, Oprah – I wasn’t on my cell phone}. I don’t think I’ve ever done that in my life! Thank goodness there were no other cars around.
The truth is, I have an insane amount of stuff going on right now, both at home and work {which is, technically, at home…complicating things further}. So much stuff, in fact, that I wind up missing stuff – including traffic lights, apparently. For instance, my die-hards {hmmm, maybe I should call you “live-wells” instead} will recognize that there really should be a Happy HeART Giveaway going on here today. Ummm, yeah. I looked at that schedule on Monday and realized I completely forgot to schedule a fabulous artist this week. Ugh. Well, I trust you’ll forgive me. {You will forgive me, right?}
I know this happens to everyone. The busyness of life ebbs and flows. Sometimes things move along at a manageable pace, and at other times it feels like we’re competing in a NASCAR race. I also know these are the days when it’s especially important to see and celebrate the beauty around me. To stop and soak up the sound of my boys giggling together. To lean back and feel the sunshine on my face. To count the number of smiles I see while waiting in a check-out line.
I trust the craziness will subside at some point, but I’m also very aware I’ll never get these days back. So remembering to breathe in a precious moment now and then is critical for my sanity and spiritual well-being, keeping me from running on empty. In the words of one of my all-time favorite movies…
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” – Ferris Bueller
